Spiritual Direction For Advent

Do you find waiting hard? As my niece said, “I just want to know what will happen, then I can wait.” Advent is a season of waiting for the birth of Christ and the beginning of the Church Year. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the role of the Church Year, the role of waiting in spiritual formation, and how to wait. Lane introduces six handholds to “scale the wall of waiting” and offers multiple examples and resources for each of the six handholds. Amy compared this presentation to a buffet table that Lane has set for your soul. As a teaser, in the section on scripture, you will be given six scriptures and questions to meditate on. “Waiting patiently in expectation is the foundation of the spiritual life,” said Simone Weil. Lane Arnold delights in the creative invitations of the wild, winsome, and wondrous Good Father, Lover Jesus, and Holy Spirit. She passionately pursues prayerfulness for herself, her family, her friends, and for her directees and those she coaches. She loves heart transformation and intimacy with God.
With the heart of a teacher, the sassy delight of a child, the lament of one who has known suffering, and the joy of an encourager, Lane dances with Jesus.
Her certificate in Christian Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary and a master’s in education complement her gift of listening deeply to the story of folks’ lives.
You can find her twirling in the kitchen, on a joy hunt at the beach, frolicking with words, exploring colors, creating quilts, or messing around with paints, and, whenever possible, laughing long and often with her grandchildren, children, and high-school-sweetheart husband.
She’s yet to turn down dark chocolate, ripe raspberries, fresh-churned ice cream, the beauty of a violin serenade, sunrises sashaying to ocean breezes, a well-worn book of poetry, a story worth reading more than once, and antics that make her very-grown children shake their heads.
