We’ve talked about the Taking Down the Ministry Pedestal before in depth and with questions for you to journal. Here’s an infographic that you can use in newsletters or when speaking at an event. You can down load a PDF version  here.

Have you gotten the Let’s Talk About It white paper that unpacks the survey research in depth? If not, you can get it here

And let us know if you’d like more infographics!

Hello Global Trellis! I am sent from the UK and I feel that this is more an American perspective on the Sender’s thoughts, though I haven’t done any survey and so could be wrong! I believe that in our part of the world, cross-cultural workers are not held in such high esteem, but instead there is less interest and even suspicion.

David, you raise a good point! I would say this may be more in some pockets than in others (as you mentioned, in some circles, they are not held in high esteem and can feel forgotten). Your comment has lead me lead me down a mental bunny trail . . . so you find that if not supporters comments, other parts of cross-cultural life might tempt you to be on the pedestal? This could be more of a zoom than comment section discussion :). If you’d ever want to chat about it, let me know! I’m thinking this has the potential to be an interesting podcast episode! :). Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Amy

I think even as an American I’ve experienced both sides of the coin. Some people elevate, maybe during an introduction, and take a bit of interest but most people show little interest or understanding of what we do. If they do, it’s for but a moment and then the conversation shifts away in another direction.
