See below for more details for each season.

Lectio Divina: Waiting and Longing
Wednesday, December 3 [9 a.m. EST]

Advent invites us into a season of noticing and naming our longing as we wait for God’s arrival in our lives. In our time together, we will practice lectio divina, an ancient way of listening to Scripture with the heart. Through prayerful reading, reflection, journaling, and optional sharing, we will create space to notice what stirs within and to rest in God’s presence.
Facilitated by Lori Ferrell, Spiritual Director

Imaginative Prayer: The Night Heaven Opened
Monday, December 8 [9 a.m. EST]

Advent is a season that sparks our imaginations. So what better way to participate than by praying with Scripture in a way that engages the imagination, senses, and emotions? Imaginative Prayer invites us to enter the gospel stories through all of our senses so we can encounter God personally.  St. Ignatius of Loyola, the developer of this method, described imaginative prayer as opening Scripture to us in a way that satisfies the soul, with an intimate feeling by tasting it interiorly. If you desire to enter Emmanuel’s story this Advent season in a tangible way, we will be praying with Luke 2:8-17. We’d love for you to join us for this prayer time.
Facilitated by Elizabeth Forshee, Ignatian-trained Spiritual Director

Centering Prayer
Wednesday, December 17 [9 a.m. EST]

Centering Prayer is a way of consenting to God’s presence and action in our lives.
In silence, we rest in God’s love, letting go of thoughts and expectations.
Rather than seeking words or images, we simply return to a sacred word as a sign of our intention to be open to the Holy. Over time, this practice deepens our rootedness in God, cultivates inner stillness, and nurtures a more loving way of being in the world. Together we will begin with a short reading (Lectio divina style) and then we will share 20 minutes in silence. There will be a brief time to share/debrief your experience with the group. Whether you are new or familiar with this practice, you are welcome!
Facilitated by Lori Ferrell, Spiritual Director

Lectio Divina: Prince of Peace
Monday, December 22 [9 a.m. EST]

The final week of Advent prepares us to welcome our long-expected savior. We will slowly and meditatively reflect on Isaiah 9:6-7 using Lectio Divina, a divine reading. This form of reading scripture allows us to listen for God’s personal word to us in relationship to his self-revelation through the living Word of God.  If you would like a holy pause to be still and know who God is for us in the birth of Christ, come and join us for this prayer practice.
