How to walk with others through trauma

Oct 19, 2021 | 0 comments

Laura Bowling is back! Laura has written two amazing trauma series for Global Trellis and this month she presents a workshop the Walking Through Trauma With Others.

My pastor, his wife, and one of their children are in Uganda as I write this for a funeral. Their son’s biological sister, who was never able to legally adopted but is very much a part of their family fell to her death in a strange window accident. It is heart wrenching on so many levels. Like some of you, they received a call in the middle of the night that altered their lives forever. Part of what complicates the situation is because they are so well-known and loved at church most people want to help . . . without really knowing what to do.

You or someone you know will experience a medical trauma, a crime, or other traumatic situation that you are often ill-equipped to face. Until now. From personal experience and the wisdom of others, Laura Bowling will equip you to walk through trauma with others . . . both in the immediate and over the long haul.

This workshop will address the following:

—Two key questions that will inform how you help

—What you need to do:

  • Logistically
  • Organizationally
  • Medically
  • Emotionally
  • Continually

—Practical ways to help with traumas that are medical, criminal, or involve death.

The challenge this month explores God’s sustaining grace in complex situations. Our hope is that because you take this workshop and are equipped to walk with others through trauma, God will use you as part of what sustains them.

Laura’s gentle and clear teaching in this workshop will enable you to walk through trauma with others.
